Gentile Glas Holloway O’Mahoney & Associates, Inc. Was responsible for the landscape design and implementation of the Abacoa greenway system. One of the goals of the greenway design was to provide the necessary stormwater management and irrigation storage needs, utilizing low impact design practices, for the 2,050 acre Development of Regional Impact (DRI) Community. Today the Abacoa greenway is functioning through a network of upland preserves and retention areas, which flow throughout the community, to accommodate for stormwater management and provide efficient water storage needed for the irrigation of the community. In addition to the functional use of this system, the greenway also provides a natural wildlife habitat system and walking trails for the community to enjoy.
