At the core of research are emerging fields of biosensing and bioimagining bringing together researchers in physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and computational sciences. The building is being designed to meet the Silver LEED certification standards with bio swales being used for storm drainage and native plants in a natural ecosystem pattern proposed for landscape. There is an estimated budget of 2.6 million outside the building walls.
