Gentile Glas Holloway O’Mahoney & Associates, Inc. was responsible for the development of the upland site plan improvements to the marina and campground devastated during the 2004-2005 hurricane season. All new structures were raised 8 feet from the previous elevation creating challenges in grading and drainage on this property, which is leased from the State on the water side of the Herbert Hoover Dike on Lake Okeechobee. Native historically correct ecosystems where designed for the transitional area between the lake and dike, under the close observation of the Army Corps of Engineers as trees and dike engineering do not mix. The site plan layout solved historically problematic traffic flow while the landscape planting gave the previously desolate area a sense of place reminiscent of what the area may have looked like.
